Winter Term 2025: A Week of Discovery and Inspiration

From forensic science to barista skills, students explored new passions in this year’s Winter Term.

Maranatha’s Winter Term wrapped up last week, offering students a unique, collegiate-style mini-semester filled with hands-on learning and exploration. Designed to break from the traditional academic schedule, Winter Term allows students to dive into subjects that spark curiosity, creativity, and personal growth.

Students selected four topical seminars for the week, with two courses running for four days and two additional “singleton” courses meeting once. The diverse range of classes, taught by faculty, staff, alumni, and parents, covered everything from film and finance to law, language, and the culinary arts.

Some of this year’s creative offerings included:
  • Adventures in Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone
  • Barista Masterclass
  • Forensic Science & Criminal Law
  • Introduction to Japanese Language & Culture
  • Financial Literacy 101
  • The Art & Science of Smoking and Grilling
  • Modern Conflicts
  • The Art of Entertaining and Event Design
Beyond the engaging content, Winter Term fosters a love of learning for learning’s sake, encouraging students to explore topics simply because they find them interesting. By embracing intellectual curiosity, Maranatha students are developing the habits of lifelong learners—an essential skill for success in college and beyond.

Winter Term 2025 was another inspiring and enriching experience, and we can’t wait to see what next year will bring!
