Maranatha’s own Campus Care Advisor and member of the Theology Faculty, Harlan will be speaking on the topic, “Time Flies: Building Bonds with Your Teens! Ideas for Meaningful Connections.” The meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 10, from 8:30-9:30 am in the Student Center. 

Harlan was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He served in the United States Army for five years in Germany and throughout Europe and is a veteran of the Iraq War. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University and a Master's in Teaching with a focus on Urban Education from the University of Southern California.

Harlan is no stranger to the Maranatha community. From 2005-2009, he served as an assistant football coach, and from 2009-2012 as the Director of Security.

For seven years, Harlan served as the Executive Director/Principal of Harambee Preparatory School, a Christian elementary school catering to low-income students. Recently, he graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary with a Master's degree in Divinity. Following his graduation, Harlan and his family relocated back to Southern California to establish a new worshiping community called Interwoven. This church plant is committed to fostering unity as Jesus prayed for in John 17. The official launch of the church took place on Easter Sunday in 2022.

Harlan and his wife of 21 years, Nanyamka, currently reside in Pasadena with their three sons:  Harlan Jr., Dietrich, and Langston Scott Redmond.
