With multiple years of head coaching experience as the Boys’ Head Soccer Coach at Maranatha as well as at the college and club level, Coach Haynes looks to now progress both the girls’ and boys‘ programs through with his knowledge and experience in the soccer community.
When asked about what he is most excited about in his new role, Coach Walker Haynes stated, “I’m excited about bringing a vision, plan, structure and continuity to the boys‘ and girls’ soccer programs at Maranatha. We are looking to create a pathway for local talent to experience the excitement and pride of competing for the Minutemen!”
Maranatha's Athletic Department is excited and eager for Coach Haynes and his abilities to lead their soccer programs. Interim Athletic Director Alicia Vessey said this about Coach Haynes, “Walker brings a wealth of experience, Christian leadership, attention to detail, and a positive and Christ-like soccer culture in the high school setting.” Haynes’ progression and development of teams has been evident at Maranatha as Haynes led the CIF-SS Division 6 Minutemen to the Olympic League Title and secured a spot in the first round of CIF playoffs last year.
Coach Haynes is eager to get the ball rolling on the pitch this summer and begin creating a long-lasting and successful brand at Maranatha. He stated, “Maranatha soccer is about a bond made on the field during games and training, where team sports teach valuable life lessons, and build lifelong friendships. It’s about overcoming adversity, competing, understanding that failure produces growth, and pressure makes diamonds. Ask any alum of the soccer program, and they will all say that the memory of a cool Friday night game in January under the lights in front of a home crowd is the magic that IS Maranatha soccer! Let’s go Minutemen!”
